TIER’S PLANNING VIEW
When this earns a place in the plan.
Creative is part of the media decision. An ad that wins attention but leaves the customer unsure what is being offered can waste a well-bought placement. TIER coordinates the message, evidence, format and destination so the campaign asks for a realistic next step.
Use creative strategy when the offer is difficult to explain, placement requirements differ, or the existing work is attracting the wrong response. It can improve clarity and learning across campaigns. It cannot repair a product that disappoints customers, a missing service capability or an unavailable offer.
EXECUTION THAT MATTERS
Best practices before and during the buy.
Write the commercial argument first.
Agree who the message is for, the problem it addresses, what evidence supports it and what the customer should do. A list of features is not always a reason to choose the business. Keep offers and conditions consistent with what sales or operations can deliver.
Adapt the argument to the placement.
A billboard needs rapid comprehension; a muted feed needs visual clarity; an audio spot needs a message that works without a screen. Define specifications and approvals before production. Reuse appropriate assets, while allowing the edit, length and call to action to fit the environment.
Test meaningful differences and review the full response.
Compare propositions, proof or objections with a defined learning question. Where possible, avoid changing the audience, offer and creative at once. Review accepted leads, sales quality and business economics alongside clicks. Check testimonials and endorsements against the actual experience and relevant disclosure requirements.
INDUSTRY FALLACIES
Claims worth challenging.
“A higher click-through rate is better creative.”+
Curiosity and misleading expectations can generate clicks that sales cannot use. The creative should attract the right response, not simply more response.
“One finished asset should run unchanged everywhere.”+
Different environments alter what can be understood and acted on. Format adaptation is a planning requirement, not needless decoration.
“A testimonial proves the typical outcome.”+
An individual experience should not be presented as a universal promise. Substantiation, context and disclosure deserve attention before the claim goes into paid media.
CATEGORY-SPECIFIC APPLICATION
The tactic changes with the business.
Retail and furniture
Use clear product context, true availability and understandable offer terms. Show the difference the customer is choosing, and connect the ad to the relevant store or product page.
Home services
Explain the job, service area and practical next step. Use authentic evidence of the work. Keep urgency, scheduling and guarantee language consistent with actual operations.
Healthcare and financial services
Coordinate subject review and required conditions early, while there is still room to make the creative readable. Do not use small print to contradict the headline or an endorsement to imply an unsupported outcome.
YOUR DATA / BETTER BUYING DECISIONS
Put customer insight to work.
Use qualification and rejection reasons to improve the offer and inquiry process. Creative tests should connect to downstream quality, not only click-through rate. TIER plans and coordinates CRM analysis, address hygiene and approved appends with the client’s existing providers. Separate observed first-party records, licensed appended attributes and modeled audience inferences. Agree on provenance, freshness, permitted use, match coverage and fees before buying. Use eligible data to support allocation, appropriate customer exclusions and outcome analysis. For activation, purchased or appended contact identifiers are not automatically eligible for Google Customer Match; its policy requires information collected in a first-party context. Sensitive-category and platform restrictions still apply.
QUESTIONS BEFORE COMMITTING BUDGET
What a buyer should ask.
- What decision should the customer be able to make after seeing the ad?
- What proof and offer conditions support the message?
- Does the format fit the environment where it will run?
- Which test result would change the next creative or media decision?
